History

In 2022, during the PALA Men's Qualifiers in Medellín, a significant moment occurred. The city, already buzzing with a budding interest in lacrosse, provided the perfect backdrop for new plans.

Medellín's sporting culture, known for its fervent support of soccer and its growing embrace of diverse sports, inspired our Executive Director Javi and Colombia Country Director, Oscar. Recognizing the enthusiasm and potential of local players, they saw an opportunity. Inspired by the spirit of the community, they committed to establishing our brand of lacrosse programs in Medellín. The journey began with community outreach, engaging local youth, and organizing training sessions.

With dedication and perseverance, they built a foundation, teaching the game’s skills and values. Since 2023 the programs have flourished, sparking a newfound love for lacrosse within the community. Today, their efforts stand as a testament to the power of sports in uniting and uplifting a city.

Our Programs

LtN staff runs after-school lacrosse programming to the students who visit Medellin Amiga. Our programs are the only outlet for sports the students have so in addtion to lacrosse our coaches play basketball, volleyball and other games to provide a diverse range of activities for the kids at Medellin Amiga.

At Colegio Lola Gonzalez, we are introducing lacrosse through PE classes to grades 5-8. Our goal is to kick off after-school lacrosse programs in 2025.

Additionally, we aim to add study hall hours, a nutrition program and offer academic scholarships to our student-athletes in conjunction with lacrosse practices.

COLEGIO LOLA GONZALEZ

Following the success of our initial programs at Fundacion Medellin Amiga, we were able to partner with Colegio Lola Gonzales. The school was founded through the merger of the former Institución Lola Gonzalez and Escuela Santa Lucía, and has two campuses: the high school and the primary school in Santa Lucía.

The school is known for its commitment to academic excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment. It offers a comprehensive education from pre-school through high school, focusing on both technical and academic development.

The institution is dedicated to nurturing students' intellectual growth and preparing them for future success.
